Pathway

Player

Move from casual play into community, competition, talent development, and esports.

What does this role mean?

A player does not have to start as a professional. Esports Nederland shows the logical steps, where to enter safely, and how to grow without losing balance.

The seven steps

Use this route as a practical guide: where to start, what to learn, and how it grows inside Esports Nederland.

1

Casual

Play for fun and rhythm

The base starts at home, with friends or online. You learn the game, your preferred role, and healthy habits around breaks, communication, and screen time.

Example

Example: one fixed Rocket League night a week with friends, without performance pressure.

2

Community

Join a safe group

Next, find Discords, local clubs, schools, or game groups with clear rules and moderation. This teaches team behavior and helps find peers.

Example

Example: joining a Dutch Counter-Strike community or school team.

3

Game Radar

Signal which game matters to you

Game Radar captures active games, roles, and regions. That data helps Esports Nederland decide where communities, competitions, and working groups are needed.

Example

Example: registering that you play VALORANT in Utrecht and seek competition.

4

Team

Train with fixed teammates

A team creates structure: roles, agreements, scrims, feedback, and responsibility. This clarifies whether your route is social, competitive, or talent-focused.

Example

Example: a fixed five-player squad with captain, coaching moment, and match night.

5

Cups

Gain tournament experience

Community cups and local events teach pressure, rules, admins, and opponents. Results matter less than reliability and learning ability.

Example

Example: joining a monthly online cup and reviewing replays afterwards.

6

Talent

Develop with focus and balance

Talent development covers training, mindset, communication, health, and guidance. Esports Nederland can connect routes to coaches, clubs, and game groups.

Example

Example: a training plan with goals for mechanics, communication, and rest.

7

Esports

Become part of the national structure

At this level you compete, represent teams or communities, and help build a mature Dutch scene with clear standards.

Example

Example: playing in a national league or helping talents through a game working group.
